Blog monitoring: (as read on May 12)

I think I may have hit the blog jackpot! is the perfect blog to monitor for this class – its content is almost exclusively about social media and the goings on in social cyberspace. On May 11, Brian Solis posted an entry about how, according to Compete and Quantcast (I’m filling in the blanks and assuming these are companies that monitor website hits), surpassed the number of unique visitors for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. In a graph he posted, it Twitter was at 20 million, the NYT at 15, and the WSJ at about 12.5. That’s huge! For anyone that doubted the importance of social media, the numbers are proof that this phenomenon is not something to be ignored. The face of media is changing at a rapid pace, and new, social media may be leaving traditional media in its dust.
